Terms of Service
Last updated: 1 May 2025
1. Introduction
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Knockr platform, operated by Knockr Pty Ltd (ABN 42 661 865 194) ("Knockr"). By creating an account or using the platform, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Knockr.
2. The platform
Knockr is an online marketplace that connects customers seeking home services with independent vetted Pros. Knockr is not a party to any contract between customers and Pros. We facilitate connections and handle payments, but we do not employ or control Pros.
3. Account registration
You must be 18 years or older to create an account. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access.
4. Pro obligations
Pros must:
- Hold a valid Australian Business Number (ABN)
- Hold any licences, certifications, or registrations required by law for their services
- Carry appropriate public liability insurance
- Accurately represent their services, pricing, and availability
- Complete booked services to a professional standard
5. Payments and escrow
When a customer confirms a booking, a deposit of $50 AUD is collected and held in escrow. The deposit is released to the Pro when the customer marks the service as complete. In the event of a dispute, Knockr may hold funds while investigating. Pro subscriptions are billed in advance and are non-refundable except as required by Australian law.
6. Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth) or the Australian Consumer Law. Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law. Where we are permitted to limit our liability, our liability is limited to the resupply of the service or payment of the cost of having the service supplied again.
7. Prohibited conduct
You must not use Knockr to post false information, harass other users, circumvent the payment system by transacting off-platform, or engage in any conduct that breaches Australian law.
8. Dispute resolution
If a dispute arises between a customer and a Pro, both parties should first attempt to resolve it directly. If that fails, either party can contact Knockr's support team. We will review the situation and make a decision based on the evidence provided. Our decision on escrow funds is final subject to any legal rights you hold under Australian law.
9. Termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or otherwise harm the platform or its users. You may close your account at any time from your settings page.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Any disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales.
